Jean Tan on Generation Grit Comments

“A friend once shared with me that suffering is often the gap between what you expect and what is reality. And when we can’t come to terms with that gap, we throw ourselves into bewilderment or depression. So for myself, learning to accept reality for what it is, learning to accept that there are limitations to myself at this point of time. But also not stopping there, because if I just lower all my expectations and I stay at that point, I’m never gonna get better. So it’s kinda holding the two in balance.” (3:00-3:25)

Jean has been an inspiration to us in SOOS OIO in more ways than one. While holding a full-time job, she seeks excellence in her music and craft. This persevering meekness is a force that pushes her and us to take a step at a time, regardless how slow or hard. We hope to spread Jean’s story to those who need encouragement especially when life throws us a curve ball. Stay tuned for more of Jean’s updates by following her social media @jeantanmusic.
